The NHS Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Screening Programme* Steering Group was established in October 2001. The membership has representatives from stakeholders with interests in the haemoglobinopathy screening and future development of services. The aim of the Steering Group is to shape and develop policy and be involved in all the key decisions for the Antenatal and Neonatal Haemglobinopathy screening programmes. The decisions will be reported to the National Screening Committee (NSC), specifically the Antenatal and Child Health Subgroups. The Steering Group will meet four times a year for the duration of the implementation programme. * Formerly the NHS Haemoglobinopathy Screening Programme
